Indian Head Massage

What is Indian Head Massage?

Each treatment works through the shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp and face using gentle massaging techniques. Treatment times can be tailored to suit the individual ranging from 15-45 minutes.

The client is seated on a specifically designed chair that ensures that they are comfortable throughout, then they are free to sit and relax and allow the therapist to work away all the tension and stress that has been accumulating.

Indian Head Massage #01

History

Massage has always played an important part in Indian life, mothers massage their babies from birth until their teenage years. Barbers massage the heads of their clients and even on the beaches you are sure to see massages being offered. From birth to old age the massage of the upper body is an integral part of daily living.

"Soften the glare and untangle the knots, let your cartwheel follow old ruts" Tao Te Ching

How does it work?
The upper body is not only one of the most crucial areas of the body, as it holds many of the ‘chakra’s or energy centres but also it is the prime area for holding tension and stress. With our hectic lifestyles and poor posture we are putting more and more strain on the muscles of the back, shoulders and neck. Indian Head Massage concentrates on these key areas and gently, calmly but firmly eases the tension away. The scalp and face hold huge amounts of tension but we are usually unaware, unless we are faced by frequent headaches or pains we never think that these are areas that are affected by our daily lives.
